Since everyone else from around the NFL is doing it, I thought I might as well join in on the fun too. I am going to start a series here on The Huddle where each week, I will project the top players at a certain position for the 2017 Season. I thought I might as well start with a play-making position to get this thing rolling. Therefore, this week we will take a closer look at my top 5 projected running backs. Top 5 Running Backs for the 2017 Season 5.Todd Gurley: Gurley had it rough in his second season finishing with 885 yards and six touchdowns. Still an average season for a running back, but Gurley can be a lot better--- as we saw from his rookie season. I still expect the Rams to stink in 2017, but Todd Gurley will get his. The†¦show more content†¦Another reason why I like Elliot at this spot is because of the Cowboys offensive line. They have the best offensive line in the NFL, which helps create big holes for Elliot to run into the end-zone. Look for Elliot to have another monster season in 2017. 2: David Johnson: Johnson had the most productive season among running backs finishing with 1,239 rushing yards and 879 receiving yards for a combined total for 20 touchdowns. Johnson was only in his second year, therefore I expect him to be even better next season. The Cardinals also have a solid line, which always helps when you are a running back. I expect David Johnson to be an elite runner next season, leading him to finish as a top-3 running back. 1: LeVeon Bell: If you havent gotten it by now, then you just arent gonna get it. LeVeon Bell has been,will be. and is the best running back in the NFL. Even when he missed four games Bell still finished with 1,268 rushing yards. If you didnt notice that is close to the other four running backs, and Bell played for less games than them. Imagine what he will accomplish when he plays all 16 games next season. His patience as a runner coupled with his ability to see the play develop make him the best runner of our generation. I would not be surprised if LeVeon Bell runs for over 2,000 yards next season. A Savage Wisdom is a novel that chronicled the fictionalized life of Toni Joe Henry as inspired by the life and crime of Annie Beatrice McQuiston. She was the first and only woman to suffer the penalty of dying in an electric chair at a basement in a courthouse at Lake Charles. She was convicted of murdering a Houston businessman that was her lover. Furthermore, Nevers allowed other men to watch them make love with each other. She then realized that this man has turned her into a prostitute. She was eventually rescued by Arkie Burk. One incident leads her to the killing, while she and Burk were traveling; they encountered a hitchhiker that turned out to be Nevers. Consumed by anger, she lost control and killed Nevers. After the death of her ex-lover, she was imprisoned. While in prison, she had a love affair with a deputy that impregnated her. Before she was executed, she gave birth to a child. The author has been successful in inciting feelings of sympathy towards the protagonist from the readers. That is exactly what I feel towards the protagonist’s predicament. I do not necessarily like and agree to her life’s choices and her life’s decisions; however, she is not to blame. She appears to be a very beautiful, good, and naive girl that deserves love and attention more than what was given to her by Nevers. I pity her because her naivety was taken advantage of by Nevers. Her act of killing him is a kind of revenge for the humiliation that he has done. Women abuse are palpable because of a common belief that women are naturally, biologically, and emotionally weak in relation to men. Cases of sexual abuse spawned from another common belief that it is difficult for women to defend themselves. However, this was proven wrong by Toni Jo Henry. Her act of killing Nevers is exemplary. It serves as a model for men and even for women to take heed on the fact that women should not in any way be taken advantage of because they have the capacity to defend themselves by any means. This is where the title of the novel best works. It suggests the wisdom and realization that people get from the incident despite a savage one. While the act of killing may serve a purpose and Henry had a reasonable justification for it, I still believe that she deserves to be punished. I understand that she did the crime because Nevers has done her wrong. She needs to fight for her right as a woman and as a human being that should be respected despite her status in life. But that does not justify the killing itself. I believe that she has to be punished for the crime that she has done. It was no doubt an act of retaliation and revenge that would not be justified in the eyes of criminal justice. For her to attain justice is to make the law work for her and not against her. One of the most striking similarities is that they are both set in mining towns when the coal industry was still running. However, what mining represents and means is very different in the two films. In Kes, it is something that Billy Casper is desperately trying to get away from, whereas in Billy Elliott, Jacky and Tony are fighting against the closure of the mines it is unlikely that Billy will ever work there. In Kes, the likely fate of Billy Casper is that he will work in the mine. However, he is adamant that his will not happen. One of the reasons that he is so against working in the mine is that he has seen the effect that it has had on his brother, Jud. Jud is a stereotypical young man hes strong, vain, chases after women and often drinks. He also picks on Billy in a very severe way. Jud despises the fact that Billy is still in school and he is almost happy every time he tells Billy that one day soon, he will be joining him, getting up early in the morning and working long hard hours in the mine. Billy is much smaller than Jud, and Jud uses his strength and size against Billy to take out his frustration. For example, when he comes home and finds Billy reading a book, a pastime he would never do, he steals the book out of Billys hands and says Whats thou got that for when thou cant read? and takes it off him. When Billy goes to take the book back, Jud holds him off with one hand and looks at the book in the other. He then says I can understand stealing money, but a chuff me, a book! and throws the book across the room. Billy is upset, but Jud violently twists his arm around his back. He also picks fights with his mother, although these are verbal. Mrs Casper threaten to give him a good thrashing, this is an empty threat. She is quite scared of Jud, although she tries not to show it. We know that Jud dislikes his job because there is a scene when he is walking through the woods to work. There is a flute playing in the background, but this is interrupted by the rumble of a van. There are similar scenes to this which involve Billy walking through the woods, but they are somewhat more relaxed and the music is different more soothing. As Jud goes into the mine, he meets some friends who say You should be on top of the world on a day like this, to which he replies Another ten minutes and Ill be at the bottom of it. This is meant as a joke, but it is easy to see that he is unhappy: mining was never a nice job. Also, when Billy doesnt put Juds bet on a horse and the horse wins, Jud says that he could have had a week off work on the money he would have won. Because he is so angry with Billy, he kills Billys favourite thing: his hawk. He hates his job so much that he is willing to crush his little brother. Billys aversion to the concept of becoming a miner brings about an atmosphere of gloomy predestination. There are three scenes in which this atmosphere is particularly clear.
